Draftsite is very different than most sites I’ve reviewed for mock and allows a lot of different people to have their mocks. This mock is by a user named cra888444. He has the Mets taking SS Nick Allen with the 20th overall pick in June’s draft.

Allen is VERY good. A shortstop/2nd baseman out of Francis Parker in California, he has a super high ceiling. Intrigued yet? Good because he’s made SIX All-Tournament Teams since 2014 and has captured Most Valuable Player awards in the 2014 California World Series and the 2015 PG/Evoshield National Championship according to MLB.com. If that’s not enough, he also won four championships in three years with CBA Marucci, was invited to the 2016 Perfect Game All-American Classic, the PG Underclass All-American Games and the 2016 National Showcase.

He has a medium frame and is short for his position at 5’9′, but size hasn’t mattered in the recent years as we clearly see what Astros’ star Jose Altuve can do. Defensively, he possesses soft hands and above-average arm strength with decent accuracy on his throws. He’s a defensive wizard at the position, and he has all the tools with killer instincts. With the bat, he has what you would call the “Sandy approach” in that he uses the middle of the field and tries to get on base consistently. He also really has a feel for hitting. He has below average power, but despite that, he makes consistent contact with his short swing and is just a good, natural hitter.

My Thoughts:

Stud. That’s a great word to describe Allen. He just has that awesome potential to me after doing my research. I would absolutely love this pick if he fell to us. He seems to make very flashy plays and looks great at the position. Not only that, but he loves to make contact. He seems like he doesn’t really try to do to much with the bat, which is what I love in young players. I’ve been waiting to find my absolute dream pick and while Hagen Danner is one of them, Allen is my #1 as of right now. Absolutely in love with him for the #20 pick.
